Portrait of Itamar Ben-Gvir

Addressed to The Honorable Letitia James, Attorney General of New York

Bring Itamar Ben-Gvir to Justice

Dear Madam Attorney General Letitia James,

Itamar Ben-Gvir is a primary architect and driver of Israel's genocide in Gaza, the continued torture in Israeli prisons, and the illegal settlement of the West Bank. We implore you to use the powers of the New York State Attorney General's office to investigate and prosecute him for his actions.

Since October 7th 2023, Israel has escalated their ongoing genocide against Palestinians. The Israeli military has used increasingly destructive means to lay waste to Gaza. The prison system continues to torture Palestinians, and settlement programs continue to dispossess the people of the West Bank. Itamar Ben-Gvir has accelerated these processes at every given opportunity.

Ben-Gvir is openly genocidal in his language and actions. He actively supports the destruction in Gaza by calling for the bombing of food and aid distribution centers, and he has repeatedly advocated for the forceful removal of Palestinians in Gaza from their land1,2. Ben-Gvir also campaigned for and celebrated the legalization of execution by hanging, a punishment that only applies to Palestinians held in Israeli prisons3. He openly advocates torture within this prison system, and the victims of this torture include US citizens and New York residents4. Ben-Gvir has advanced his genocidal goals through his capacity as Minister of National Security, and these words and deeds amount to war crimes and the crime of genocide5.

There is precedent for legal action against Itamar Ben-Gvir. Multiple governments including France, Slovenia, Ireland, Norway, and the UK have banned his travel to their countries6. The UK has sanctioned him and frozen his assets7. Ben-Gvir has harmed New Yorkers before, and given his past genocidal statements and actions, it is likely that his time in New York will be used for criminal activity. The Honorable Letitia James, you are in a unique position to protect New York City. We ask that you use the full power of your office to pursue this war criminal.

Respectfully,
The undersigned

Ben-Gvir is out —
all other war criminals are next

Ben-Gvir is out — all other war criminals are next. Tuesday, July 7th, 4PM, Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza.

Organized mass pressure works. Itamar Ben-Gvir cancelled his trip to NYC for fear of our movement.

And we will not stop here. We call on AG Letitia James to follow through on HRF and CCR’s demands of investigating and arresting Ben-Gvir for torturing NY residents and to investigate any other Zionist war criminal in NYC. And we will not stop at Ben-Gvir. No war criminal is welcome in NYC, and we will meet any and all of them with just as much anger and organization. Our demands are as follows:

  1. We demand NY AG Letitia James answer HRF’s complaint and investigate Ben-Gvir under NY Criminal Law.
  2. We demand NY AG Letitia James investigate all atrocity crimes perpetrated by or against NY residents in Palestine – including the crime of genocide and the systematic torture of Palestinian prisoners – and ensure all war criminals are prosecuted upon arrival.
  3. We demand that the United Nations withhold the credentials of Benjamin Netenyahu and the Israeli delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in September, effectively banning Benjamin Netenyahu and the Israeli delegation from the UN.
  4. We demand that the NY Mayoral Office, City Council, and NY AG Letitia James do everything in their power to investigate and prohibit the illegal sale of stolen Palestinian land in New York City, in accordance with international law.

As we rally, we reaffirm that we will never abandon Palestine. Israel is still committing genocide in Gaza, families are still being displaced and dispossessed in the West Bank, and our prisoners are still being tortured in Ben Gvir’s prisons. We will continue to confront Zionism and genocide in every form it takes in our city, be it in the form of war criminals or the sale of stolen land.

Who Itamar Ben-Gvir is, and why he's not welcome in New York

Since October 7th 2023, Israel has escalated their ongoing genocide against Palestinians. The Israeli military has used increasingly destructive means to lay waste to Gaza. The prison system continues to torture Palestinians, and settlement programs continue to dispossess the people of the West Bank. Itamar Ben-Gvir has worked to accelerate these processes at all costs. He is a key architect of the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and has sought to further Israel's domination wherever he can.

Ben-Gvir has been dedicated to the genocidal Israeli project since his youth. He is an avid supporter of Brooklyn-born Baruch Goldstein, the terrorist responsible for the murder of 29 Palestinians in a mass shooting in 19941. In 2007, Israeli courts convicted Ben-Gvir of incitement to racism and supporting the Kach Party, a designated terrorist organization that calls for the total annihilation of Arabs in what they deem as "greater Israel"2. In 2015, at the beginning of his political ascension, he attended the wedding of Amiram Ben-Uliel, a settler who killed 3 Palestinians in an arson attack. One of the victims, Ali Dawabsheh, was a 1-year old child. At this wedding, Ben-Gvir was photographed with attendants stabbing a picture of Ali with knives3. He eventually won a seat in the Israeli Knesset with a popular mandate in 2021 and was named Minister of National Security by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Once in office, Ben-Gvir was a brazen advocate for the escalation of torture against Palestinians in Israeli prisons, formalizing a process of slow execution. For example, he intentionally blocked the transfer of Palestinian prisoners from Sde Teiman, a notorious prison known for the rampant sexual violence committed by the guards against Palestinians4,5. Ben-Gvir has cultivated a culture of impunity within the security system, letting abuse go unpunished and thereby encouraging its spread6. When the Israeli Navy abducted the Freedom Flotilla of May 2026, which sought to bring critical aid to Gaza, Ben-Gvir called for the torture of these crew members7, several of whom were New York City residents8. Ben-Gvir allowed for the intensification of the inhumane conditions in prisons by overseeing the complete revocation of all rights previously gained by the Palestinian Prisoners' movement. It is under his leadership that the Palestinian prisoner's struggle experienced its deadliest period with 91 martyrs since October 20239.

In addition to deepening the internal mechanisms of domination within Israel, Itamar Ben-Gvir has vocally called for the expansion of settlements and the expulsion of Palestinians from their land10. He implemented policies to expand gun ownership for illegal Jewish settlers11, staging a publicity stunt in which he handed out rifles to settlers in November 202312.

Throughout his political career, Ben-Gvir sought to expand the borders of Israel through force and violence, showing no regard for human life. In April of 2026, following the Israeli cabinet's approval of 34 new illegal settlements in the West Bank, Ben-Gvir pushed for the expansion of additional settlements13. He has further announced a settlement plan for the occupation of Lebanon14.

Ben-Gvir applies this same exterminationist attitude to Gaza, stating that his goal is the "complete occupation of the Strip"17,18. He has repeatedly called for the bombing of food and aid distribution centers15, the complete cutting of electricity, and the forceful removal of Palestinians in Gaza from their land16.

Ben-Gvir represents the true face of a political project seeking to fundamentally erase the Palestinian people from their land. Notably, his call for the complete expulsion of Palestinians from their land is shared by over 80% of the Israeli population19, representing the standard, not an exception. His rhetoric, his associations, his actions all make abundantly clear that Itamar Ben-Gvir is a criminal of the highest order. He is a product of the Israeli state. It is within this context that he was molded, socialized, accepted, and venerated. We must continue to confront Itamar Ben-Gvir and all manifestations of Zionism, until the complete liberation of all Palestine.
